OUR STORY

Tucked away in the heart of beautiful Montezuma, on the Nicoya Peninsula, and only a five-minute drive from the beach, Aves Hotel & Retreat Center is surrounded by lush forest, gentle ocean breezes, and the peaceful sounds of nature.

Aves was born from the shared dream of Jennifer and Mike, a daughter and father who wanted to create a place where people could slow down, reconnect, and be inspired by the beauty of Costa Rica.

Jennifer first came to Costa Rica in search of a change from her California lifestyle and a deeper connection with nature through her passion for teaching. Montezuma quickly captured her heart. After returning to California for the birth of her first child, she dreamed of raising her family close to nature.

With that vision, Jennifer returned to Costa Rica with the idea of creating a summer camp for children—a space filled with learning, adventure, and the outdoors. Her father, Mike, loved the idea and decided to help make it a reality.

Over time, their dream evolved naturally. What began as a camp became a warm and welcoming retreat, blending wellness, yoga, and genuine hospitality.

Today, Aves Hotel is a sanctuary of calm and connection. Every guest becomes part of our story—one that began with a dream and continues to grow with every visit.

Accommodations

Aves features 12 inviting hotel rooms and a six-bedroom private villa, each designed with natural textures and a touch of tropical elegance.

We offer three unique accommodation styles:

Bali Deluxe Rooms – Inspired by Balinese design, these rooms overlook the grand Pochote tree, our 17-meter lap pool, and the restaurant.
Serenity Suites – Peaceful jungle-view suites located near our relaxing lounge pool.
Chez Mu Villa – A luxurious, six-bedroom residence with breathtaking ocean views and a private infinity pool.

Wellness & Retreats

At our heart, Aves is a retreat center. We host yoga, meditation, and wellness groups from around the world.

Our Ocean View Yoga Shala—one of the largest in Costa Rica—is nestled in the jungle with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Aves Hotel is home to inspiring retreats with School Yoga Institute and Nomad Yoga—offering yoga teacher trainees a serene natural setting and world-class facilities designed to elevate their learning experience.

Our Amenities

Below the shala, guests will find two spa rooms offering massages, facials, and body treatments.

A small, well-equipped gym is also available for those who wish to stay active during their stay.
